Published: May 13, 2026 by Tiffany Aasted · This post may contain affiliate links

Looking for gift wrapping inspiration this holiday season? These whimsical pink and blue gift wrapping ideas are sure to get you in the spirit!

Last year, I mixed a block print floral wrapping paper with stripes and dots in colors of blue and pink for our presents and it was lovely. If you have ever wanted to try it, I hope you find inspiration in all the pictures I took as well as tips for layering ribbons on gifts to make an elegant impact.

Wrapping presents has become something I truly enjoy doing. Maybe you don't relish the task, or you're looking for new ideas, but I'm glad you found your way here. With a few tips, and many photographs to look through, you should be able to get a few creative ideas for the next time you wrap a gift.

Holiday Decorating in Pink and Blue

This past year, my holiday theme was a Captivating Christmas Tree Decorated with Flowers. Pink and white flowers, to be specific.

I used fluffy faux beige pink peony stems to dot our tree. (Actually, they are a bush that I cut into individual stems.) You could try these similar looking blooming pink peonies as well.

Combined with large white magnolia flowers (similar) that I have used for the past several years, they fill in gaps nicely while adding interest. Along with pink flowers and ornaments I decorated the tree with my usual dusty blues and these new porcelain blue & white chinoiserie ornaments (similar) to create a lovely blue and pink tree. I also mixed in some additional white decorations as a third color, as I like to have three main colors when decorating.

    Pink and Blue Wrapped Presents

You have probably come across Christmas trees decorated to the nines in blue and pink. That is also the look I went for with the presents: blue and pink with grounding white. I tend to stick to dusty blues, blush pinks, creams and whites, and sage green. So, it was not a departure for our decorations, however it may be for you.

In past holiday blogs I have shared my love of the brand Sugar Paper. From stripes to dots and Christmas trees, their wrapping paper makes every gift look thoughtful. You can buy gifting paper on the Sugar Paper website or via the Sugar Paper + Target collaboration, which is just as nice but costs a little less.

My collection of wrapping paper is mostly from Sugar Paper, though I do have a few rolls of paper from HomeGoods and Jam Paper. Be sure to check out my Gift Wrap Organization Ideas post for tips and solutions to keep your own collection tidy.

Here is the breakdown of how I wrapped our gifts:

    Blue Wrapping Paper

Blue and white floral block print gift wrap was the star of this past Christmas. I found it at HomeGoods. Don't worry, I have you covered. This alternative block print wrapping paper on Etsy is very pretty.

Along with a blue floral block print I included presents wrapped in a soft blue stripe gift wrap. It's the same paper I used to make one of my DIY Mini Christmas Present Ornaments.

While I did not use it this past year, I usually have the following additional blue wrapping papers in my collection to use for birthdays and other holidays:

    • Solid navy blue gift wrap
    • Blue and white dots gift wrap
    • Solid blue-grey-green gift wrap

    Pink Wrapping Paper

This would not be a pink and blue gift wrapping ideas post without the pink paper. Mixing presents wrapped in small pink dots gift paper amped up the whimsical feeling underneath our tree.

A few gifts were wrapped in a charming pink and white paper with the words "Merry Christmas" written in what is meant to look like handwritten cursive. I recommend checking Sugar Paper or Target around Christmas, as they may carry the same paper around the holidays.

I have used the pink dots and "Merry Christmas" paper for many years, including in the Charming Christmas Present Wrapping Ideas and the Beautiful Gift Wrap Ideas posts you should look at for more inspiration.

    White Background Gift Wrap

The ever neutral, versatile white usually makes an appearance in our presents. Included in my own collection of gift wrap are several papers that maintain a white background or base. You may want to add a few white paper options to your collection.

When buying solid white wrapping paper, make sure it's not see-through or you may have to double-up the paper.

    Layering Ribbons on Presents

Sometimes trying a new approach can help you be more creative. Presents should feel special to the lucky recipient, but also to you as the giver. I think layers - like layering decor in a home - is one simple way to do that.

I love layering ribbons on presents. When I started getting more creative with how I wrap gifts, I also began experimenting with layering ribbons of different materials together.

For instance, a long present wrapped in pink dots paper, like the one in the picture I took below from this past Christmas, has two different types of ribbon layered together. On the bottom is a 1 ½ inch white velvet ribbon with a either ⅛ or ⅜ inch navy blue picot edge satin ribbon (similar) on top.

Another idea is to create a pattern with ribbons. A great plaid pattern is undeniably charming, and reminds me of Ralph Lauren style. You can see in the photo below that I created a plaid pattern on a small present using four different ribbons:

    • 1 ½ inch white velvet ribbon
    • ⅛ inch navy satin ribbon
    • ⅛ inch taupe pink satin ribbon (similar)
    • ⅜ inch light blue picot edge satin ribbon (similar but 3/16 inch)

It didn't take much to create the pattern across the front. I taped ribbon pieces together on the back where no one sees.

Both stylish ribbon patterns created subtle statements that made our tree look even more beautiful. You can really see how layering can completely elevate your gift giving!

    Using Ribbon Bows for Gifts

Sprinkling in uniquely packaged presents can bring whimsy and elegance to giving gifts. Less can be more at times, too. A number of presents under our tree last year had just one large ribbon bow across the center.

Pink satin ribbon paired beautifully with the blue floral block print gift wrap to soften the look. I used two different width ribbons: a couple presents had 2 ½ inch champagne pink satin ribbon bows, while a few others I used 1 inch champagne pink satin ribbon.

You can see there are a few gifts with a 1 ½ inch navy satin ribbon bows on them. It's a polyester satin that has a lovely sheen and frayed edges.

Lastly, for a gift I placed off to one side, I simply placed the item in a large white gift box with lid (similar). I used a pink satin ribbon again to make a pretty bow in a traditional cross shape and that's it! It was so simple yet stunning.
